Overview

The UGMIT, Rayagada is a Govt. Polytechnic (Co-education) functioning since 1979 at district headquarter of Rayagada, under the Administrative control of the Director of Technical Education & Training, Odisha, Cuttack and at Government level under the control of Skill Development & Technical Education and Training Department, Govt. of Odisha, Bhubaneswar.

Brief History:

The UGMIT, Rayagada was established in the year 1979 with a single branch of Leather Technology with an intake capacity of 15 students per Annum. In due course, with the introduction of World Bank project for Technician Education, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics& Telecommunication Engineering branches have been started with an intake capacity of 40 each. As on today a total of 546 students are available in the campus. The admissions to Leather Technology course has been kept in abeyance since 1991.

Location:

The institute is situated in the industrial township of Rayagada which is 405kms away from the state capital of Odisha. This place is well connected with all the places of the State and also other metropolitan cities like New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai & Kolkata. The location of the institute is within 2km distance from the railway station & Bus stand

Diploma courses in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics & Tele-Communication Engineering are offered at this institute. All the courses offered in this institute are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi and affiliated to the State Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training, Odisha, Bhubaneswar. The Course duration is of 3 years comprising 6 semesters. Diploma is awarded after passing the final examination by the SCTE & VT, Odisha.
